At CloudNow, a key part of our process is the Agile Scrum methodology that we use while developing technology solutions. We run our agile processes with industry-standard tools, including Atlassian’s Jira Software and Confluence Cloud.

The need for effective tools to run Agile processes

There are virtually no problems in the software development process that the agile scrum methodology does not help to handle – that’s what makes it so powerful. However, with this comprehensive approach comes a large number of moving pieces in terms of ceremonies, files, versions, artifacts, and reports.

It is important to have the right tools in place to manage these processes, and keep the whole practice running smoothly. Keeping communication channels open is essential to ensure that every team member knows what the other is doing. Since agile development is an iterative process, developers work on extremely similar files and modules multiple times – this means that exact version management and perfect communication are necessary in order to avoid major errors and delays.

That’s why we consider it so important to use the right tools for our development team. We do not leave things to chance – we trust technology built for the purpose. CloudNow continuously invests into the latest tools in the market to make our production smoother and more efficient, and our delivery to our clients faster and of higher quality.

Scrum management

At CloudNow, we use Jira to manage our sprints – for our burn up and burn down charts, and to generate our timesheets. These documents are central to our Review and Retrospective ceremonies under the agile framework. Since our sprint planning is also done using the same software, this streamlines our scheduling and has allowed us to improve time efficiency significantly.

In order to keep our teams communicating smoothly and efficiently during the scrum, we also use the project collaboration solution, Confluence Cloud, to maintain consistency and follow industry-best practices across our projects. CloudNow uses Confluence’s comprehensive interface to simplify the process of communication and idea-sharing for our teams working remotely.

With a consistent, significant reduction in delivery time across projects, we have been able to prove real process improvement through our adoption of these tools.

“By using best-in-class tools, we ensure that the development of our client’s tech solution takes place smoothly and efficiently, and our focus remains where it should be – on developing the tech that is required, and not on our own internal communications and project management.” – Hareesh M– Scrum Master (multiple projects)
